Greece: almost all restrictive measures on Covid-19 are lifted

The cancellation of almost all restrictive measures was announced by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias during a briefing on Wednesday (23.06) on the situation with the coronavirus in Greece.

In particular, he said that regarding the request to suspend the mandatory use of masks outdoors in places where people do not gather, the members of the committee on infectious diseases unanimously expressed a positive proposal, and the government decided: Compliance with the mandatory use of masks indoors is continued and it is allowed not to use the mask outdoors, in places where there is no concentration of people. The above measure is valid from 05:00 on Thursday morning (24.06).

He also announced that the following changes will be introduced from 28/6:

Restrictions on movement at night (curfew) are lifted. Exemption of fully vaccinated workers from the obligation to perform self-tests in the workplace and athletes in the halls 15 days after the completion of vaccination (and the second dose if it is a two-dose vaccine). The security protocol in restaurants and other catering outlets is changing with an increase in the maximum attendance limit to ten people at a table. Outdoor work – The maximum number of people will be 300, as already announced in the existing health protocols. Operation of organized beaches: maximum number of one hundred and twenty people per 1000 sqm, beach area with controlled entrance.

Regarding the requests for the competence of the Ministry of the Interior, the members of the committee, after interactive discussion, unanimously proposed the following:

Vaccinated and unvaccinated civil servants belonging to high-risk groups (category B) may return to the workplace. Vaccinated and unvaccinated civil servants belonging to high-risk groups (category A) can also return to work in person, but in positions not related to public relations. Especially for medical personnel: the administration of each medical institution will assess their use in the appropriate positions depending on the risk category to which they belong. The way of serving the population in the sphere of public services is being revised. The public should be served preferably, but not exclusively, after the scheduled appointment, always respecting the protective measures and rules applicable to retail trade (1 person per 16 m2) for the number of citizens served, and the mandatory use of a mask even on the street if there are queues.
