A powerful tremor with a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale occurred shortly after midnight on Tuesday in the Dodecanese area, near the islands of Tilos and Nisyros.
Seismic vibrations were recorded at 01:14. The Geodynamic Institute of the Athens Observatory estimates the focal depth of the earthquake at 14.4 km, the epicenter was located 24 km west-southwest of Nisyros.
The USGS, the American Geological Survey Institute, recorded an earthquake of 5.7 on the Richter scale. The depth of its focus is 10.9 km, the epicenter is 22 km north-northwest of Mandraki, Rhodes.
The European EMSC recorded a vibration of 5.6 Richter. The exact vibration epicenter, according to EMSC, is located 51 km south / southeast of Kefalos Kos. The focal depth of the earthquake is estimated at 5 km.
The earthquake was felt by the inhabitants of many areas of the southeast of Greece, evaluating it as a long one. A strong vibration was also felt on the Turkish coast. There are no reports of damage or casualties yet.
