It is impossible to get infected with coronavirus in reservoirs

Mikhail Lebedev, leading expert of the CMD Center for Molecular Diagnostics of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, talks about the features of the summer coronavirus.

The expert argues that when swimming in any body of water, it is impossible to become infected with the coronavirus, and even the mask can be removed, but you should not forget about observing social distance – it is better to avoid the mass gathering of people. Lebedev recalls that the main route of transmission of coronavirus is airborne, it is not transmitted through water:

“There is currently no evidence that the COVID-19 pathogen, which is transmitted from person to person by airborne droplets, can spread through water. Thus, water from open reservoirs cannot be considered a source of transmission of the new coronavirus infection.”

Russian scientists conducted a study of the water for the presence of coronavirus, but in no case was it detected. Nevertheless, the expert strongly recommends that you be careful on the beach:

“Beach vacation can be dangerous, first of all, a large crowd of people, lack of physical distance and neglect to use personal protective equipment. Of course, there is no need to sunbathe in a mask on the beach, but it is better to follow the distance more closely – you should not be located where there is already enough there are a lot of tourists or where access to the reservoir is difficult. Do not forget about the cleanliness of your hands. If you cannot wash your hands with soap and water, you should use an antiseptic. If you enter the premises, you must definitely wear a mask. “

Lebedev explains that crowds can be observed in the beach shopping and food zones, near the changing rooms. Such multiple contacts can contribute to the successful transmission of the coronavirus.

The expert’s recommendations are more relevant than ever – today at least 10,000 Russians will go to rest in Antalya
