Supermarkets, bakeries and department stores: new opening hours

Today, 14/06, a new joint ministerial decision (ΚΥΑ) comes into force, according to which the opening hours of grocery stores (supermarkets, bakeries, etc.) are changed.

Supermarket and bakery measures: ΚΥΑ Allows grocery stores to work from 7 am to 10:30 pm, which is valid until Monday 21 June 2021, until 6:00 am. Pharmacies and petrol stations work according to the current schedule, in accordance with special provisions, on an individual basis.

In addition to the schedule, according to the Government Gazette, for every 25 sq.m. in the main area of ​​the store (without ancillary premises, warehouses, offices, parking lots) there can be 1 person (in case of violation, a fine is charged).

The same ΚΥΑ stipulates that consumers who come to a retail outlet to pass (purchase) a self-diagnosis test are not counted. This exception applies to grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, pet shops, laundries, tobacco / vape shops.

Catering
Carried out exclusively in the fresh air. From June 12, 2021, and outdoors in ventilated galleries (if there are two open sides), only seated customers will be served, with the ability to work from 5:00 to 1:15.

What applies to public markets
Mandatory expansion of retail space or the operation of parallel markets is provided in case of insufficient area, in terms of compliance with measures of distance between counters. Until June 14, 50% placement of manufacturers / sellers’ counters with a distance of five meters between them remains.

From June 15, 2021, the distance will be one meter on both sides of the counters and one and a half meters between people, with self-checking at least once a week for sellers and market workers.

Shopping malls and discount villages
The ratio of 1 person per 25 sq.m. Up to 4 customers can be present in mobile shops at the same time on areas up to 100 sq. M.
Extended hours of operation are provided from 7 to 21:00, while commercial stores are allowed at the country’s airports.
