Coronaparthi in Glyfada: Hooligans set fire to beach umbrellas and pelted firefighters with stones

According to ANT1, the Good Morning Greece program covered an egregious incident in Glyfada that evening.

It’s amazing how barbaric the inhabitants of Greece are to municipal property (by the way, carefully established for themselves), destroying the efforts and money invested in the arrangement of beaches in the era of a pandemic!

The coronavirus has made dramatic changes in our lives and even changed the habitual position of relaxing on the beaches. What the organized beaches will look like this year, said the mayor of Glyfada.

After the municipality has made the necessary interventions and changes, in accordance with the regulations of the authorities and health authorities, preventive measures to combat the spread of coronavirus will be applied this summer season on organized city beaches.

In particular, new sand was brought in, the umbrellas are located at the distance established by the regulations. Changing rooms, showers and benches will be regularly treated with antiseptics. Strict hygiene rules will be fully enforced under the strict supervision of the authorities.

A group of merry fellows who threw a beach party on Glyfada’s beach set fire to umbrellas as they continued to hang out. When a firefighter’s outfit arrived at the scene, some of the hooligans managed to escape, while others became so insolent (or were simply drunk as an insole) that they pelted them with stones.

According to ANT1, there was a party on the beach with a large number of people, presumably about 1,500.

Party-goers turned on music, danced and set fire to state (municipal) property. At some point, upon seeing the fire, local residents called the fire department. 3 cars and 6 firemen arrived at the city beach of Glyfada.

Seeing the representatives of the authorities, who immediately got down to business and began to extinguish the fire, the hooligans began throwing stones at them.

But there were hooligans who were all “on the drum” just to have fun, albeit in such a barbaric way. How the police reacted to the incident is not reported. It’s a pity. If they had punished some, it would have been discouraging to others.
