In Saturday’s UEFA European Championship, Denmark’s midfielder Christian Eriksen suddenly passed out. For several minutes, the doctors carried out rehabilitation actions, after which the football player was taken to the hospital.
The incident occurred shortly before the end of the first half of the match between the national teams of Denmark and Finland, INTERFAX.RU reports. Suddenly falling onto the lawn, Eriksen was unable to get up and lost consciousness. When the score was 0: 0, the match was stopped.
Details are revealed by Morten Bozen, the Denmark national team doctor, at a press conference after the match:
“We were immediately called to the field when Christian fell. I did not see the very moment, but it quickly became clear that he fell on his own. When we came running, he was lying on his side and breathing. we immediately started cardiac massage. There was fantastic assistance from the arena doctor and other emergency services. “
The incident is commented on by Yuri Vasilkov, a former doctor of the Russian national team, explaining the reasons for the loss of consciousness by the Danish national team player:
“Eriksen suffered cardiac arrest. This is the rarest case. If a person dies, it’s terrible. Let’s pray that everything will work out.
The ex-doctor of the Russian team said that behind the screen, doctors performed an indirect heart massage and resuscitation measures for Christian Eriksen. He noted that “now such phenomena for some reason began to appear, but the reasons are not known for certain.”
After the match resumed, the teams finished 5 minutes of the first half and played the second half. The Finnish national team beat rivals from Denmark with a score of 1: 0. The meeting took place in Copenhagen. The only goal in the meeting was scored by Yoel Pohjanpalo, who just hit his head in the 60th minute of playing time. Dane Pierre-Emile Høybjerga failed to convert a penalty in the 74th minute of the match.
Currently, Christian Eriksen is conscious, can speak, and is undergoing the necessary medical examination.
