All travel restrictions will be lifted for vaccinated EU residents

Citizens and residents of EU countries will be able to move around without restrictions within the community after full vaccination.

This is reported by TASS, referring to the statement of the representative of the European Commission Christian Wiegand. A similar solution, says Wiegand, was agreed by the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union:

We look forward to its prompt confirmation at the EU Council next week. Now you can be sure that, in connection with the introduction of the coronavirus certificate, Europeans will be able to safely enjoy their summer holidays without restrictions.

In accordance with this decision, EU citizens who received both vaccinations at least 14 days before travel will be able to move freely within the EU. For this, the vaccination certificate system is being launched; from July 1, it will begin to fully function.

The document will reflect information about the vaccination, negative PCR test, or the fact of the past COVID-19 disease and the presence of immunity. It will be possible to use the certificate using a mobile phone and a QR code.

The Portuguese EU Presidency’s Twitter page says: “Member States have shown a consensus on the restoration of free movement.”
