According to law enforcement agencies, an 8-year-old child was arrested for robbery and beating of minors at Syntagma.
The boy belonged to a gang of minors who used him as “bait” – they approached the victims and then beat and robbed them. Three minor children, one of whom was only 8 years old, were arrested last night by Syntagma police after the youngsters committed a robbery.
According to the information, it all started when a group of three young Roma men attacked two underage boys, beat them, and took away their wallets and mobile phones.
The juvenile “bandits” carried out criminal activities strictly according to the plan: the 8-year-old served as “bait” so that the robbers could approach the victims who were riding a bicycle. Then they were attacked by 15-year-old teenagers and robbed.
After receiving a statement from the victims at the police station, OPKE police officers arrived at the scene of the alleged incident. They found suspicious persons nearby, they arrested them. The case was transferred to the Athens Police Department.
