A 71-year-old man is in the hands of the police of the Cultural Heritage and Antiquities Department of the Thessaloniki Security Service, who hid antique objects, coins and tools used in illegal excavations in his home in Serres.
In particular, five bronze and silver coins, an arrowhead and three bronze objects were found and confiscated, as well as tools: two metal detectors, nine homemade metal rods with a handle for determining the depth of the ground, a search tool with headphones, detailed maps of the territory of Greece.
A case was initiated against him for violating the Law on the Protection of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage in general. The black archaeologist will be taken to Attorney Serres, and the confiscated ancient items will be sent to the local Antiquities Authority (Εφορεία Αρχαιοτήτων Σερρών) for expert evaluation.
