A government spokeswoman said Thursday that Greece will donate 40,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to its northern neighbors Albania and North Macedonia.
“Greece, in coordination with the European Commission, like most European countries, for its [небогатых] neighbors will donate vaccines to help. 20,000 doses will go to North Macedonia and 20,000 doses to Albania, ”Aristotelia Peloni said at a press conference. She did not say when it would happen. She also did not specify what kind of vaccine will be transferred.
Greece received a vaccine against coronavirus as part of the procurement program in general for the EU countries. This allowed her to receive both a good price for the vaccine and priority delivery terms. For other countries, such conditions were difficult to obtain.
PS According to rumors received by the editorial office, Greece intends to float unused remains of the AstraZeneka vaccine to its neighbors, which they do not want to use domestically. As the saying goes, “on you, God, what is not suitable for yourself.”
