Results of Cavusoglu’s meeting with Dendias

The trip of the Turkish minister to Greece is considered preparation for a potential meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Brussels, during the NATO leaders’ summit on June 14.

The main range of issues planned for discussion in the negotiations, according to Greek and Turkish media reports, concerned the controversial issues that arose in the Aegean and Mediterranean seas after the 2020 crisis.

Greece expects a “gradual normalization” of bilateral relations with Turkey, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said at a press conference after meeting with his Turkish counterpart Melvut Cavusoglu in Athens on Monday. Dendias said the two sides agreed on a list of economic cooperation programs as well as mutual recognition of Covid-19 vaccination certificates. The previous joint press conference of the two ministers, held in Ankara in April, resulted in an exchange of harsh remarks and accusations.
