Extension of unlimited entry of Russians to Greece

Russian citizens are free to visit Greece, their number is not limited. A corresponding extension of the permit until June 7, subject to certain conditions, was reported by the Greek authorities. The inter-ministerial decision was published in the Government Gazette.

To enter the country in a pandemic, guests of Greece must have a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19, or a certificate of a previous illness and the presence of antibodies, or a negative PCR test – that is, all conditions in force on May 14 remain, including the cancellation of 7- daytime quarantine when entering the country.

The new decision will be in effect from May 31 to June 7 06:00. Russian citizens wishing to visit Greece can choose a convenient route using “the country’s international airports, the seaports of Patras, Igoumenitsa and the island of Kerkyra (Corfu), checkpoints [на сухопутных границах] in the townships of Promahonas and Ormenio around the clock, as well as in the township of Evzoni and Nymphea from 07:00 to 23:00. “

The document explains the conditions for visiting Greece and citizens of other states. Entry is allowed for citizens of the EU and Schengen countries, their official and common-law spouses, and their minor children. Bosnia and Herzegovina is also included in the list of third countries whose citizens can visit Greece, informs the message:

The ban on entry to Greece for third-country nationals does not apply to permanent residents of the following countries: Australia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, Belarus, Bahrain, New Zealand, South Korea, Qatar , China, Kuwait, Ukraine, Rwanda, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore and Thailand who enter the country by any means and by any [транспортными] means.

All persons arriving in Greece are required to complete the electronic Passenger Locator Form (PLF) the day before arrival, indicating their contact details. Confirmation by the system of its receipt is a mandatory travel document. In the absence of PLF, the passenger is not allowed on the plane, and the companies that let such a passenger in must send him back, assuming all transportation costs. Air passengers should be prepared for the fact that at a Greek airport they may have to take a test and, if positive, be quarantined for 2 weeks.

It is important that the documents required by the Greek side from the Russians can be in Russian – a certificate, test result or a certificate of a past illness indicating the presence of antibodies. The latter is valid for 2-9 months from the date of illness. If you wish, you can provide these documents in another language – French, English, German, Spanish or Italian. The main thing is that they indicate the state body that issued them. Children under five years old can enter without such documents, but over 5 years old must have them.

On the territory of Greece, all guests of the country must comply with the restrictive measures related to the pandemic, on an equal basis with the local population. To date, travel to the islands and between regions is permitted. But wearing a mask and keeping a distance is still mandatory. The country has a curfew restricting night movement from 00:30 to 05:00. Little by little, the situation with the coronavirus is stabilizing, and the Greek authorities, in accordance with the recommendations of experts, are gradually lifting restrictions.
