Russia: trainer injured by lioness attack during performance

Lioness Vega showed aggression and attacked trainer Maxim Orlov right in the circus arena, during a performance in the village of Moshkovo near Novosibirsk.

The incident, as reported by the NGS, took place on May 22, after which the artist of the touring Ural circus was hospitalized with lacerated wounds. The African Lionesses featured two predators and, as you can see in the video, were unfriendly from the start.

In the end, one of the lionesses attacked the trainer, and after he managed to free himself from her paws, she did it again. According to the man, there were no such cases before, and he cannot say for what reason the animal has become overly aggressive. Although she notes that from childhood, Vega loved to “show character.”

An ambulance took the trainer to the hospital, where doctors treated lacerated wounds on his arms and legs and then let him go home. Orlov says:

“Cases like today are very rare. But animals are animals. Vega is five years old and has been wayward since childhood. Her sister Santa, with whom they have performed until today, is completely different. “

After the incident, the trainer plans to take the lioness to the zoo, and take a little lion cub there for performances.
