Staikouras: € 400 Million Additional Tourism Support

The support of the tourism sector within the framework of the program, in the amount of more than 400 million euros, was announced by the Minister of Finance of Greece Christos Staikuras, noting that tourism was supported in the previous period.

According to the minister, the tourism industry will be supported by additional instruments developed by his ministry.

At the same time, Mr. Staikuras announced the entry into force of a new law from June 1, on the repayment of debts of up to 240 payments for persons affected by the pandemic and who are at auctions.

In an interview with the radio station “Parapolitika”, when asked about a possible cancellation of the debt, the Minister of Finance replied that in the near future we should see an improvement in the situation in Europe and Greece, noting that debts were cut due to repayable advances.

Finally, Mr Staikuras stressed that there should be a fiscal adjustment in 2022 as some of the support measures will be phased out and there will be no increase in spending as long as the economy is doing better.
