India: Hindu-sacred river fills with coronavirus corpses

Indian authorities have demanded an immediate end to the practice of dumping corpses into the sacred river Ganges, RIA Novosti reported. This appeal was made to the people by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the head of the Ministry of Water Resources Management.

The scandal erupted after the discovery of the remains of about a hundred people in the river. The find was reported by residents of the state of Bihar. The authorities believe that these may be the corpses of those who died from the coronavirus, whose relatives could not pay for the cremation.

The number of the dead makes the wooden and gas ovens of the crematoria melt, which operate around the clock. This was reported from the state of Gujarat. Over the past week, the country has recorded an average of 389,000 new cases of coronavirus every day. In total, according to statistics, during the pandemic in India, 23 million people were infected, 250,000 died.

In addition to the raging COVID-19 pandemic, the inhabitants of the country are struck by another attack – “black mold”, or mucomycosis… The most susceptible to the disease are patients with coronavirus or those who have undergone it.
