Self-test in schools: 3000 covid positives identified

Schools opened in Greece today, May 10. The first day of the presence of children and teachers in the classroom, after many months of self-isolation, was accompanied by self-diagnosis tests.

As previously reported by “Russian Athens”, the opening of preschool institutions was postponed. Kindergartens will open May 20-24, Deputy Interior Minister Stelios Petsas said. The issue of kindergartens has already been discussed by the committee and the government, while the authorities of the country pointed out that “it is difficult to oblige children aged 0-4 years to pass self-tests and wear masks,” Mr. Petsas said on the MEGA TV channel.

Alas, 3000 covid-positive people were added to the total number of “carriers of the virus.” This figure includes not only pupils, but also teachers and school staff, primary and secondary school workers.

The total number of people involved in primary and secondary education is 1.7 million, with half of them registered on the self-testing.gov.gr platform.

According to experts, many people who have a negative Self-test result go to school without providing information in the system, but with a written confirmation of the result (with a certificate of negative analysis for coronavirus).

On May 10, tutoring departments of training centers (frontistirios) and foreign language courses will reopen, preparing high school students for state exams.
