Alexander Murakhovsky, the head of the Ministry of Health of the Omsk region, went missing in the forest, Reuters reports. Last year, he aided Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny after a plane carrying a sick politician made an emergency landing in Omsk.
Currently, helicopters, emergency services, more than 100 volunteers and drones are involved in the rescue operation. The whereabouts of the doctor have not been known since Friday, police said. Murakhovsky left the hunting base, located in the village of Pospelovo, Bolsheukovsky district of the Omsk region, on an ATV and disappeared. For about a day, acquaintances and friends searched for him on their own, then resorted to the help of law enforcement officers. About 100 people are involved in the search operation, the search does not stop at night, TASS reports.
The rescue operation is complicated by the difficult terrain and the presence of swampy areas. A special technique is involved. As a result of the activities on Sunday, the missing doctor’s ATV was found, 6.5 km from the hunting base. A source in the authorities told TASS that in the forest, where the missing minister’s vehicle was found, local residents saw bears. The search for a doctor continues.
