Vaccinations for 45-49 year olds: more than 130,000 people made an appointment in just a few hours

The 45-49 age group in Greece has a strong interest in immediate vaccination. More than 130,000 people have reportedly already made an appointment following the opening of the platform this morning.

The emvolio.gov.gr platform opened early in the morning for about 124,000 citizens who are registered with the remote prescription system, and from 8 am the site became available to everyone else.

This age group will be able to receive doses of all four vaccines, including Johnson & Johnson, which will be available in the country from May 5.

Speaking on SKAI, Deputy Minister of Digital Government George Georgantas stressed that from this month the number of vaccinations will reach 2.7-2.8 million per month. It was emphasized that there are sufficient vaccine preparations for everyone, and the vaccination system works flawlessly.

The deputy minister announced that from June people under the age of 30 will also be able to get vaccinated, and the soil is already being “prepared” for admitting 20-year-olds. “On Maundy Thursday, 66,000 vaccinations were given in just one day, and the pace of growth is accelerating. From May 5, we will have 1,500 vaccination centers.

Johnson & Johnson vaccine is expected. We are very optimistic, and I believe that by the end of June it will be possible to talk about the creation of collective immunity in the country, ”stressed Mr. Georgantas.

Due to the unprecedented interest that has been registered, the government is increasing the number of lines and vaccination centers.

Vaccine supply in the coming months
With regard to deliveries for the next two months:

Pfizer will provide 2,150,000 doses in May and 2,425,000 in June. The drug Moderna Greece will receive 354 thousand doses in May and 308 thousand in June. Johnson & Johnson: 300,000 doses in May, 960,000 doses in June. AstraZeneca has yet to confirm deliveries for the next two months.

In total, the number of vaccine doses is expected to be around 450,000-500,000 per month.
