Organized beaches and beach bars will reopen in Greece on May 15, a government official said Friday. True, the music will not be allowed to turn on.
Speaking to the state-run ERT TV channel, Secretary General for Trade and Consumer Protection Panagiotis Stamboulidis assured that security measures such as physical distancing and masks, mainly for staff, will continue to be applied at beach resorts.
He added that beach bars will not be allowed to play music, and the measure will also apply to restaurants and cafes opening May 3 and bars when they return to work at the end of the month.
Explaining the ban on music, Stamboulidis said expert reports showed that ambient noise can spread the virus by causing visitors to raise their voices, spreading more particles in the air and getting closer to each other.
