Can you imagine a Greek beach without tourists? This is not possible for the government. That is why Panayiotis Stampoulidis, Secretary General for Trade and Consumer Protection, announced that those who want to swim on the organized beach now that the weather is already warm enough should first … wait for the tourists to arrive!
According to Mr. Stampoulidis, the organized beaches will open on May 15, the opening day of tourism. That is, on the same day when the restrictions on interregional travel will be lifted, and we will also stop sending SMS and will be able to enjoy food in the tavern again.
Mr Stampoulidis echoed what Athanasios Exadaktylos said about the decision to ban music in catering establishments, as, in their opinion, “we have to speak a little louder, and therefore there is a greater risk of airborne infection.” The official stressed that when we are sitting at the table and not eating, we must wear a mask.
In addition, he added that eateries in shopping centers will be open only for delivery and takeaway until May 15, while restaurants in hotels will serve only guests and exclusively in the open air.
In a word, this year the Greeks are praying and expecting not the resurrection of the Lord, but the resurrection of “tourism”, as newsbreak.gr sarcastically notes.
