The munitions clearance operation took place from 8 to 23 April in the Gulf of Monemvasia in Laconia.
The required actions were carried out by the Mine Clearance Unit (OEN) of the Office for Underwater Disaster Management (Διοίκησης Υποβρυχίων Καταστροφών (ΔΥΚ).
According to the press service of the Greek Navy, this is the second stage of this operation. The neutralization concerns a large number of World War II missiles that sank near the port of Monemvasia. Destruction includes detachment and retrieval from the seabed, as well as transportation to a safe designated point and neutralization with a controlled explosion.
