In the year of the 200th anniversary of the independence of Greece, Christian Dior Haute Couture House will present a new cruise collection in Athens. It is assumed that the show will take place on the Acropolis, in the same place where it took place exactly 70 years ago.
“Dior has chosen Athens, the cradle of Western civilization and European art, to present its 2022 cruise collection, created by Maria Grazia Chiuri,” the company said in a release. The Dior Cruise Show will take place on June 17th in Athens, in full compliance with the prescribed sanitary restrictions.
The announced event will take place 70 years after the founder of the brand, Monsieur Dior, showed his collection in the Acropolis, next to the Parthenon, an Athenian temple considered by many to be the most significant piece of architecture in European history.
The label shared a photo taken by Jean-Pierre Pedrazzini for Paris Match: eight models posing in all splendor against the backdrop of the Parthenon, showcasing the 1951 Dior collection.
The house of haute couture did not name the exact location of the upcoming show, but emphasized that “within the framework of this unique event, the work of local artists and craftsmen will also be demonstrated.”
