In New York yesterday, they decided in a peculiar way to encourage all vaccinated against coronavirus with a free “joint” – a roll-up of marijuana, RIA Novosti reports.
The unusual action was initiated by the non-governmental organization DCMJ, which actively advocates for the legalization of cannabis in the United States. Its organizer, Nicholas Schiller, told the publication’s reporters:
Today in Washington DC and New York we are running a “shoals for vaccinations” campaign – a free cannabis giveaway.
The DCMJ founder believes the unusual encouragement will nudge doubters who are hesitant to get vaccinated. People actively participated in the action – during the day more than 4,000 people came up to get a hand-rolled hemp. Although some, Schiller notes, tried to get a “joint” after presenting a certificate of the presence of antibodies.
But not everyone present at the place of the action, on Union Square, approved such a kind of vaccination advertisement. One of the women, Jessica, told reporters:
I am a smoker myself. But I don’t think marijuana should be used as propaganda. Because many people use it for medical purposes. It’s not a joke. This is not something to be taken lightly.
In March, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the law to authorize the recreational sale and use of marijuana. From now on, residents of the state have the right to store up to 85 grams. cannabis or up to 24 gr. its concentrate. The use of marijuana is allowed even in public places, but only where regular smoking is allowed. On April 20, Americans celebrated the so-called cannabis day.
