The jury ruled unanimously on all three counts: second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. Chauvin faces up to 40 years in prison.
The punishment will be determined by the judge. The verdict is expected to be announced in two months.

US President Joe Biden called Derek Chauvin’s verdict a huge step towards racial justice. Following the announcement of the verdict, Biden and his vice president Kamala Harris spoke on the phone with George Floyd’s family. Then Joe Biden invited the Floyd family to the White House.
White House refuses to comment onwhat Biden meant when he mentioned the “correct verdict” in the case of Police Officer Chauvin.
