African dust rains on Sunday

The range of temperatures on Saturday in Greece was very large: hot weather was recorded in the southern parts and on the islands of the East Aegean Sea, in contrast to Epirus and Western Macedonia, where it was quite cool.

According to the network of automatic meteorological stations of the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, on Saturday afternoon (15:00) in Prespes the maximum temperature was only + 7.1 ° С, and in Napoli-Lassithi + 33.3 ° С.

Dust from Africa and mud rains are expected to rise tomorrow in parts of the country, as well as several sporadic thunderstorms.

On Sunday, an increased concentration of dust with mud showers is expected, first in the regions of Western, Central and Northern Greece, and in the afternoon – on the islands of the Aegean Sea, in the regions of Central Greece and the Peloponnese. Sporadic thunderstorms are likely to occur mainly in Macedonia, the Peloponnese and the East Aegean Sea.

Temperatures will range in Western Macedonia from 2 ° C to 19 ° C, in the rest of Northern Greece from 4 ° C to 21 ° C, in Epirus from 5 to 22 ° C, in Thessaly from 5 to 26 ° C, in the rest of the mainland from 7 to 24 ° C, on the Ionian Islands 10-21 ° C, in the insular parts of the Aegean Sea and on Crete 12-26 ° C.

Winds on the Ionian and western continents will blow from the northwest with an intensity of up to 5 on the Beaufort scale, and in the Aegean from the southeast, with an intensity of up to 6 on the Beaufort scale.

Cloudy weather is expected in Attica, with an increased likelihood of mud showers in the afternoon. The concentration of dust in the atmosphere will increase, periodically limiting visibility. The winds will blow from different directions with a force of 3-4 on the Beaufort scale. The temperature will range from 12 ° C to 21 ° C.

Cloudy skies are expected in Thessaloniki, mud rains are possible. The concentration of dust in the atmosphere will be relatively high. Winds will blow mainly from the south. The air temperature in the city will range from 10 to 19 degrees.
