The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is seriously considering the advisability of using the American dollar. At the briefing, Maria Zakharova, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that it would be logical to exclude this currency from the priority list.
This question arose against the background of the actions of the United States in the international arena. Zakharova notes:
“Russia is well aware that Washington is using its currency and financial system to aggressively pursue its policy not just bypassing, but destroying the entire international legal system. Naturally, all this casts doubt on the advisability of using the American currency as a priority payment currency, as well as the reliability of payment mechanisms controlled by the West. “
The diplomat emphasizes that against this background, the use by Russia of adequate measures designed to minimize risks and losses, including the transition to settlements in other currencies, is quite logical.
Earlier, Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, spoke about the same thing. He said that Moscow feels an urgent need to move to alternative currencies, and is also working on the possibility of abandoning Western-controlled payment systems. This will help to more fruitfully cooperate with interested countries.
Alexander Pankin, deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, admits the appearance in the Russian Federation of an alternative to the SWIFT payment system, as announced on April 5.
