Today, April 16, 2021, Greece’s National Health Organization announced 3,067 new cases of coronavirus. At the same time, according to EODY, 824 patients were intubated in the intensive care unit, and 91 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours.
As a reminder, the maximum number of cases reported by EODY in a single day was announced on Tuesday March 30, when 4,340 cases were identified in 24 hours. At the same time, the maximum number of deaths per day was recorded on Saturday 28 November 2020, when 121 patients died.
Details from EODY: “New laboratory confirmed cases registered in the last 24 hours are 3,067 infected, of which 13 were identified after entry checks. The total number of cases is 311,033 (daily change + 1.0%), of which 51.3% are men. Based on confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 57 are considered to be related to international travel and 2,990 to a known case.
There are 91 new deaths of patients with COVID-19, with a total of 9,330 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic. 95.5% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years of age or older.
It should be noted that 65,209 tests were carried out (PCR: 19874, RAPID: 45,335), while their positivity was 4.7%. This is about 55% above the average (about 42,000 per day)
The number of patients who underwent intubation was 824 people (61.5% of men). Their average age is 68. 85.1% have an underlying medical condition and / or are 70 years of age or older. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,927 patients have been discharged from intensive care units. Admission of new patients with Covid-19 to hospitals – 547 (daily shift + 3.99%). The average number of patients hospitalized within seven days is 514. The average age of cases is 44 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), and the average age of death is 79 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).

Attica has the most new infections, according to the distribution of cases announced by the PHEA. In particular, out of 3,067 total cases of coronavirus, 1,398 new cases were detected in Attica, 425 in Thessaloniki, and another 81 cases in Achaea.
The situation in the world: the number of deaths exceeded 3 million
The COVID-19 pandemic is still moving around the planet, having infected 140,271,965 people on April 16, 2021, with an increase of 845.128 per day. At the same time, the death toll was 3,006,207 (+13,864), 107,005 in critical condition, and the number of those who recovered increased to 119,190,447.
The world leader in the number of new cases is India +216 850 (total 14 287 140). By the number of new deaths, Brazil +3,774 (total 365,964). Most of all died in the United States 578 993. There is also the largest number of infected 32 224 139.
