Favorable climate for Russian tourism: visit of Haris Theocharis to Moscow

The main goal of Haris Theocharis’ four-day official visit to Moscow is to restore Greek-Russian tourism.

“Our country has announced a comprehensive tourism development plan that includes specific target countries, and of course Russia is one of them,” Greek Tourism Minister Mr Theocharis said in a statement to reporters.
“Indeed, we have already announced that since May 14, our country will hospitably open its doors for tourism. We have the so-called five lines of defense, and therefore we are firmly convinced that this will create the necessary conditions for ensuring security, both for those whom we accept and, of course, for the population of the country. We are always in constant contact with infectious disease specialists and other competent services to make sure that the current epidemiological situation allows us to safely implement the plan to open tourism, ”he added.

In turn, the head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of Russia Zarina Doguzova, welcoming the Minister of Tourism Haris Theocharis, noted that Russia and Greece have long-standing, close and friendly relations, which is confirmed by active and close economic and humanitarian ties between the two countries.

Haris Theocharis: “We invite our Russian friends to a safe holiday in Greece this year.”

The head of Russian tourism noted that the parties agreed to gradually and step by step, taking into account the safety of tourists, to move on to the issue of further expanding tourist flows.

Ms. Doguzova noted: “We are interested in a gradual, safe and comfortable restoration of tourism between Greece and Russia. We expect that we will have close contacts with the Greek side with a constant exchange of information in order to ensure the safety of our citizens. “
