According to the data of ΕΛΣΤΑΤ, mortality in Greece in the first 8 weeks of 2021 (04/01/2021 – 028/02/2021) decreased by 8.32%.
According to the National Statistical Office, the death rate was 20,538 (10,537 men and 10,001 women), compared with 22,402 (11,192 men and 11,210 women) deaths in the corresponding 8 weeks of 2020.
According to ΛΣΤΑΤ, most deaths were registered in the 8th week of this year from 22.02 to 28.02 with an increase of 7.9%. While the minimum number of deaths was recorded in the 5th week, from February 1 to February 7, 2021, with a decline rate of 16.6%.
In the period from January 11 to January 17, 2021, the mortality rate decreased by 14.9%, and in the period from February 8, 2021 to February 14, 2021, the indicator decreased to 13.8%.
By age groups:
age group from 85 to 89 years (626 deaths); from 80 to 84 years old (461 deaths); 90 years and older (402 deaths); age group 60 to 64 years old (20 deaths).
An increase in mortality in absolute terms was recorded in the Thessaly region (68 more deaths). And the greatest decrease in mortality was recorded in Attica – 815 fewer deaths.
