Put out the lights: Earth hour

Thousands of participants in the “Earth Hour” action – citizens, offices, institutions and architectural objects – on Saturday, March 27, at 20:30, intend to join the world community by turning off the lights for an hour.

This year the Acropolis, Levkos Pyrgos (Thessaloniki), Rio-Antirio Bridge, Megaro Musikis Concert Hall, Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center and other sites in municipalities across the country will take part in an environmental campaign. The President of the Republic of Greece will also take part in World Earth Day, the lights will go out in the presidential palace from 20:30 to 21:30.

“Earth Hour this year is an opportunity to unite our voices and send a convincing signal about conservation and the need to unite individually and collectively,” says the head of WWF, who calls on everyone to take part in the action once again, noting that “2021 will be a year of serious environmental problems and their solutions. “

In addition, WWF says, “On Saturday, Earth Hour, we have a very pleasant surprise for you! At 20:30 turn off the lights, walk in and watch the big music festival awaiting you at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUFdhtIrS-A. “

ONIRAMA has prepared a special music program. Turning off the lights, they sing and send their own message for new achievements. Picos Apicos and The Pina Coladas will perform two of their hits in quarantine, exclusively for Earth Hour.

Earth Hour is a global event hosted by WWF once a year at the end of March.
