Chronicles of coronavirus: 3133 infected, 728 intubated, 72 dead

The new coronavirus cases, announced by the Greek National Public Health Organization on Saturday afternoon, totaled 3,133. There were 72 deaths, with the number of intubated patients reaching 728.

The total number of cases is 252,590, of which 51.5% are men, and the total number of deaths has reached 7,826 people, 95.7% of whom have had any underlying disease and / or are 70 years of age or older.

Compared to the 2,535 cases reported last Saturday, there is an increase of 23.6%, largely due to the fact that this Saturday, the figure includes many cases identified on Friday, the day after the 25 March holiday.

Based on the geographical distribution of new cases reported by EODY, 1510 were identified in Attica, 358 in Thessaloniki and 152 in Achaea. The number of new infections in Kozani was very high and amounted to 110.

The average number of hospitalizations in the last seven days is 451 patients. The average age of the sick is 44 years, and the deaths – 79 years.

Compared to 60 deaths last Saturday, this one recorded an increase of 20% and the number of intubations increased by 56, from 672 a week earlier. 64.4% of those intubated are men, their average age is 68 years.

In the past seven days, however, 84 patients have exited the intensive care unit, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 1,656, up from 1,572 a week ago.

Samples Tested: From January 1, 2020 to today, in laboratories that conduct tests for the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and which systematically indicate the total number of samples tested, a total of 4,113,428 clinical samples were tested, at that time how EODY’s Medical Departments, which perform rapid Ag tests, tested 2,263,519 samples.
