Driving license was sold according to the “price list”

As a result of road checks, 250 driver’s licenses were confiscated, which were issued illegally. Employees of the Ministry of Transport in Katerini are accused of involvement in illegal transactions.

A total of 14 people were arrested in this case. Among the detainees are employees of the transport department, owners of driving schools and private individuals. According to the sources cited by AMPE, the case materials include at least 200 cases of transactions for bribes.

The “Pricelist” was drawn up according to the type of “service”: it started at 100 euros and went up to four-digit amounts, up to 3000 euros.

As for the work of the criminal group, it was very diverse. In one case, they took a bribe for providing the correct answers before the exam, in other cases they were allowed to use reference books during the exam, in the third, they filled out the answers themselves. As noted, a police officer was identified among the detainees.

As “Russian Athens” wrote earlier, a couple of years ago, the Greek law enforcement authorities closed the Office of the Ministry of Transport located on Teomitoras Street (Ag. Dimitrios district, Athens), after it was discovered that there was “sold” fake driver’s licenses and for a bribe, they arranged a driving test.

According to cnn.gr, according to a police investigation, the leaders of the said unit, as well as some owners of driving schools, entered into a criminal conspiracy, engaged in “taking exams” from students who did not even appear in the examining room.

It seems that the criminal activity of selling licenses to car owners simply cannot be eradicated, since the same thing continues from year to year.

Anecdote on the topic: “For those who bought a driver’s license, free of charge, as a gift – a guide to the rules of the road.”
