Completed preparations for the military paradeto be held on March 25 in Athens. On Monday, the second rehearsal for the parade was held at the Dhekelia airbase in Tatoi in the presence of the Chief of General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros.
As emphasized in the General Staff of National Defense (GEETHA), the parade in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Greek revolution will be held with dignity, despite the pandemic. According to GEETHA, a message about the readiness and determination of the Greek army and navy will be broadcast in all directions through the divisions and assets of the Greek Armed Forces that will perform at the parade.
The parade will be attended by:
Column in historical costumes. Children in traditional Greek costumes. Historical flags will be carried (Filiki Iteria, Sacred Corps, Banner of Saint Lavra, etc.) ((Φιλικής Εταιρείας, Ιερού Λόχου, Λάβαρο Αγίας Λαύρας κ.α. part of the army, where, among other things, combat tanks and unmanned aerial vehicles (SPERWER) will be exhibited Motorized air force unit with PATRIOT and STRELA anti-aircraft systems Motorized Greek police department Motorized coast guard unit Motorized fire brigade Column of infantry divisions of all three branches of the armed forces, as well as security forces. The parade will be attended by F16 aircraft from USAF (USA), RAFALE (FRANCE) and VOYAGER (UK).
As GEETHA emphasized, during the rehearsals and the military parade on March 25, 2021, all necessary measures were taken to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 200th anniversary of Greek independence will be marked by the presence of the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiades and French Defense Minister Florence Parley.
The parade will start at 10 am from Zappeyon and will last one hour.
